Description
Gilgamesh was the last piece for my three piece senior project and it was by far the most difficult. It's composed of a variety of materials: tin foil, masking tape, hot glue, aluminum sheets, velcro, and cardboard. Considering I HAD to finish this in a week, it's only a prototype. Right now, (even in this picture), it's in really bad shape and it's falling apart.
I never actually wore the whole armor piece mainly because it was too fragile. I was able to strap the greaves onto my shins but the pinwheel things were too flimsy and breakable. Needless to say, I couldn't move if I wore the greaves. The gauntlets were easily wearable, but since they were the last parts of the project I started getting tired of working on it and it resulted in a half-hearted job.
Oh yeah... and then there's that weird sixth piece, the one that somehow mounts onto Dante's back. I didn't make that because 1) I didn't know how to mount it onto my back without making it look blatantly obvious, and 2) one week was not enough time to complete a six piece armor set with two other projects.
Even though Gilgamesh turned out to be kind of a failure, I still look at it as a giant step in cosplay making. It was my first time dealing with metal, too (and boy, cutting those details in the aluminum sheeting was HELL). I want to refurbish this armor set at some point, just because I spent so much time on it and it seems to be a waste if I let it sit in my closet.
